My intention for this painting was to create a dynamic reflection of dance, movement and emotion, within the stillness of a canvas.  I wanted to encompass concepts that define elements of both dance and what it is to be human in general, e.g. strength, fragility, individuality, community, flight and gravity. I aimed to create a fragmented blend of abstraction and configuration, and the chaotic composition symbolizes the complexity and interconnectedness of individual experiences within the broader tapestry of life.  The cracked texture within the central figure represents an element of vulnerability and fragility breaking through the dancer's exterior of strength and perfectionism.  

Lucie recently completed an Foundation in Art at Exeter School of Art for which she achieved a distinction.  She has most recently exhibited at SWAc (2023); Thelma Hulbert Annual Exhibition (2023); Art Unlimited Finalist (2023); Green and Stone Summer Exhibition (2023 and 2024); and the Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show (2024). 

She is due to begin an undergraduate degree in Fine Art: Painting at the University of the Arts London in September of 2024.
