Statement

Dawn is a plein air and studio oil painter living in the Southwest, who revels in the unlimited source of inspiration on offer in this stunning landscape. Her plein air work is a celebration of her exploration and response to the ever-changing light.  These plein air studies provide endless material for larger studio pieces.  She has an eclectic collection of artworks ranging from landscapes, seascapes, figurative, cityscapes and still life’s, mainly inspired by the wonders of light.  She revels in the challenge of painting plein air, bracing the elements and where speed is of the essence in order to capture a moment in time and the light which brings a painting alive.

Dawn has exhibited at the, the Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy, The Royal West Academy, Chelsea Art Society, South West Academy, Patchings Art Festival, and Broadway Arts Festival.  At present she sells her work out of The Russell Gallery London (2019-now), The Seaglass Gallery, Lympstone which has included my solo show in 2022, from her website and from her studio during Devon Open Studios.  Her paintings can be found in private collections in Canada, Germany, Italy, Jersey and Australia.  Dawn is very proud to have been elected an Academician of the South West Academy in December 2024.

Dawn tutors workshops and demonstrations from her studio in Exton and for various Devon Art Groups.  She has appeared on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year as a wildcard and has been the guest judge at Exmouth Art Group Annual Exhibition.  This year she feels extremely honoured to have had the opportunity to complete a commission for the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines at Lympstone, a painting which now hangs in the Officers’ Mess.

In the last couple of years Dawn has raised over £2000 for charities through donations of her paintings.
